A bit over 3000 miles into my adventure/vacation I was riding around on whatever gravel roads I could find around Moran, WY looking for wildlife in the drizzle I had my first real mishap. The window fell out of the lift mechanism.

I heard a rattle in the door when I got out parked off camber. When I got back in I could tell something was off. Hit the up button and the window was coming up crooked. Put it back down and lifted the glass by hand about halfway up. Pressed the up button again until the mechanism caught the glass and closed the window. Opened and closed the door a couple times, window stayed put. I did the double 5 second window calibration. Only lingering oddity is the glass drops quick for the first couple of inches.

I think I'll order the regulator (LR063670) and have it sent express to the next stop. Then if I need it, I have it. I'll also get some auto glass tape sent.

Triage plan is to just not use the window unless necessary. If it fails I should be able to tape it in the up position. I did bring a good assortment of tools, including my favorite plastic pry bars so if it comes to it I should be able to knock it out. Worst of the worst case is I pay a shop to do it.

Nice recovery. If the window was stuck down that would have been a problem. Beautiful country out there and the bear shot is nice. Utah has some wild animals too, the shot below is out my passenger window.

Anyone know the part number for this plastic clip? One of the bolts rattled loose and the remaining clip broke from the strain.

Local dealer told me that the clips come with the whole window. I'll be calling a couple of junkyards on Monday. $300 for two plastic clips is nuts.
