Finally had a chance to do the Compression test. I was wrong about it earlier. Results: cyl 1 140, cyl 2 130, cyl 3 115, cyl 4 0 :mad: ,cyl 5 120, cyl 6 122, cyl 7 130, cyl 8 150. Plus, when I pulled cyl 4 spark plug out, the electrode was bent back against the plug wall - I assume from the... -

Knocking from engine
I found out the hard way to verify I got the right parts from the Autoi Store. Once I was given the wrong spark plugs. I realized before I installed them, as they were way too long, and could have damaged the pistons. Double check you got the right parts. -

Thanks RC for getting back to me - I was already planning on replacing the O2 sensors. Here's the latest: I have gas (can smell it and hear the fuel pump working), I have spark and air. Starter is OK, too, I'm pretty sure that's the whirring sound I hear. It will start, but won't keep idling... -

Where do i connect the idle valve to?
On mine I have something stranger.....a juryrigged something or other......a short vinyl tube with a bolt screwed into the end to seal it. I've been wondering what THAT is about, and I'm interested in replies. Thanks for posting the question. -

Has anyone heard the terms upstream or downstream along with oxygen sensors? My codes indicate Downstream sensors. My somewhat logical brain is wondering if I only need to replace the rear sensors. But I have no idea if my Disco is logical as well. I don't have maintenance records, so I... -

Disconecting the ABS on a 94 Disco
Is it that simple to disable the ABS? Just pull the fuse? I'm just having a hard believing it can be that simple.....If it is, sweet.... -

Soft Brakes?
I've got another appointment this friday at a brake specialist. I specified I've got a LR Disco, and I want them to check the servo, and all ABS parts. What Spark Plugs to use?
Atlantic British lists a Bosch Platinum, I'm guessing it's the plus 4's. Part# ETC6437P. As soon as I get my brakes straightened out..... -

Brake troubleshooting
Update: The brake inspection didn't go into ABS or the electronics of the brakes, but at least pads, rotors, calipers are all OK. They told me the pierson (sp?) rod on the steering was loose, and they tightened it for me. I had been noticing something up with the steering, and it now feels... -

More brake questions - O ring size
Does anyone know the dimensions, or size of the O-ring that fits on the master cylinder, and seals up against the vacuum servo unit? Some of the research online indicates that I might be able to get an aftermarket replacement at Napa. I don't trust the one that I got in the plumbing section...
