Selling my Disco - where to advertise?

I'm surprised you haven't had any responses, I was drooling over it. If I hadn't bought my jeep, I would be trying to figure out how to ship this to Hawaii......(sigh)

    New Problems

Sadly I've decided it's not worth it to me to rebuild the engine, especially since I don't have the time, energy and $$ to do it, and I no longer have a mechanic that I trust. I'm going to try and sell it as a Mechanics special....if that doesn't work out, I'll part it out (I'll let you know and...

    New Problems

Finally had a chance to do the Compression test. I was wrong about it earlier. Results: cyl 1 140, cyl 2 130, cyl 3 115, cyl 4 0  ,cyl 5 120, cyl 6 122, cyl 7 130, cyl 8 150. Plus, when I pulled cyl 4 spark plug out, the electrode was bent back against the plug wall - I assume from the...

    Knocking from engine

I found out the hard way to verify I got the right parts from the Autoi Store. Once I was given the wrong spark plugs. I realized before I installed them, as they were way too long, and could have damaged the pistons. Double check you got the right parts.

    New Problems

Well, I did everything Moose suggested..... I cleaned the oil pickup tube so well I could have sipped a boat drink thru it. No change, still clanking metallic noise, and then it dies. I did pull out some small metal fragments, size of popcorn kernel. I bought a better, screw-in type of...

    New Problems

OK, got the oil pan loose... Now I'm dealing with what the Haynes manual calls "track rod". I've looked at previous postings, and saw where others have referred to loosening and swinging down the sway bar. Is the track rod same as the sway bar? What I would've thought was the sway bar the...

    New Problems

No idiot lites came on before or now....And I did find the silicone seal, at walmart, they even had oil filters for LR's. How does one check a VSS? I got as far as getting all the bolts out, running a blade around the edge, giving it a couple whacks with a rubber mallet, but can't seem to...

    New Problems

OK, I'll do that today. Read how to do it in my Haynes manual. What do people use for silicon sealant / gasket type of sealant to reseat the pan with? I doubt I'll be able to find the Hylosil suggested in the manual. And when you say "replace pickup tube" I'm assuming cleaning it and replacing...

    New Problems

Thanks RC for getting back to me - I was already planning on replacing the O2 sensors. Here's the latest: I have gas (can smell it and hear the fuel pump working), I have spark and air. Starter is OK, too, I'm pretty sure that's the whirring sound I hear. It will start, but won't keep idling...

    New Problems

Not looking good, I'm waiting for a neighbor to come over so I can do a compression check. I'm hearing a clacking noise, can't hear exactly where it's coming from, but think it's under the valve covers. They look to be a b**** to take off to see what's up underneath. Something is definitely...

Where do i connect the idle valve to?

On mine I have something stranger.....a juryrigged something or other......a short vinyl tube with a bolt screwed into the end to seal it. I've been wondering what THAT is about, and I'm interested in replies. Thanks for posting the question.

    New Problems

I think I have bigger problems now than O2 sensors. I was accelerating down the highway when it shuddered a little bit, in fact my first thought was I had a tire going flat. I took my foot off the accelerator while I ruled that out. When I pressed on the pedal again, there was no response, no...

    Another O2 sensor question

Has anyone heard the terms upstream or downstream along with oxygen sensors? My codes indicate Downstream sensors. My somewhat logical brain is wondering if I only need to replace the rear sensors. But I have no idea if my Disco is logical as well. I don't have maintenance records, so I...

    O2 Sensors

Also, what about getting O2 sensors from an auto recycler? I know generally getting electrical parts or brake parts is questionable....

Disconecting the ABS on a 94 Disco

Is it that simple to disable the ABS? Just pull the fuse? I'm just having a hard believing it can be that simple.....If it is, sweet....

    O2 Sensors

I've already checked previous posts for info on replacing O2 sensors, but thought I'd ask anyway: Any suggestions for sources to purchase O2 sensors? Any suggestions or hints for installing them? (I think they are somewhere on the exhaust system) Thanks

    My 2 cents worth.....

Sergei, any chance the Seafoam protocol be posted at the beginning of the forum? Complete with the seafoam link:http://www.seafoamsales.com/ and maybe the link to http://www.bluemoongear.com/JeffSeaFoam.htm for those of us that are information junkies? Also, I got the OBDII Reader, the same...

    Brake troubleshooting

Update: I followed the instructions in the link, and found out......nothing. The instructions were not written for my year Disco. Oh well. Hopefully the link may help someone else.

    Soft Brakes?

I've got another appointment this friday at a brake specialist. I specified I've got a LR Disco, and I want them to check the servo, and all ABS parts. They sound knowledgeable on the phone, and I've heard good things about their shop. This is REALLY good, because I tried talking to the upscale...

    What Spark Plugs to use?

Atlantic British lists a Bosch Platinum, I'm guessing it's the plus 4's. Part# ETC6437P. As soon as I get my brakes straightened out.....

    Brake troubleshooting

Update: The brake inspection didn't go into ABS or the electronics of the brakes, but at least pads, rotors, calipers are all OK. They told me the pierson (sp?) rod on the steering was loose, and they tightened it for me. I had been noticing something up with the steering, and it now feels...

More brake questions - O ring size

Does anyone know the dimensions, or size of the O-ring that fits on the master cylinder, and seals up against the vacuum servo unit? Some of the research online indicates that I might be able to get an aftermarket replacement at Napa. I don't trust the one that I got in the plumbing section...
