Nathan when are you doing the Rubicon? You attempting it in the Rover or the Jeep? love to learn more, especially if you think a modded LR3 could make the pass.

It's my dream and desire to be the first to take an LR3 through the Rubicon, but no, this year I am taking the Jeep. I might be escorting Coy Glasscock through in his LR3 though. Plans have not been set, but he has a sweet deal with a television show (related to fishing) that is motivating all this. Coy's LR3 is rigged up with a big lift, 33" tires, SG bumpers and sliders and so forth.

Yes, an LR3 can make it, but I suspect it will not make it unscathed. One of my acquaintances led the FJ Trail Teams through the `Con 2 years ago, and they were pretty banged up at the end, but they made it. You just have to go slow, work with the terain, take your time and be gentle. The Rubicon is hard, but really, its more about being hard the entire way, instead of just one or two hard sections that we regulary subject the LR3's to these days anyway. Fatigue and brain fade are major factors, and they are mitigatable.

lightning strikes were in from a storm that rolled through my sub the night before.. amazed my D40x actually captured them.....

Sorry I couldn't make it - especially since I was the one who started this thing. Glad you guys made it up Saturday - Sunday got a little wet. Great pics!
