Seems like this problem is becoming fairly common. Anyone heard anything about a TSB on this or a true fix other than replacing it with the same ***** differential?

I've heard reports on both fronts and rears failing.

I proactively replaced the front/rear diff oil, along with the transfer case oil, earlier than the recommended interval. This is probably the best (and least costly) option to extend the life of these components.

Wonder if the LR4 has the same part numbers, and/or if they were reworked for improved durability.

Guys,

Once upon a time some LR diff's got coated the wrong paint/coating inside. This lead to failures. There IS a TSB about a new larger diff breather that can be fitted. In the UK its about £8 so its a cheap mod.

They only fit it to cars in a certain production run when they have a problem. We have started to mod our cars as it wont hurt to do so.

If you want more info I'll get the TSB references :hello:

JackMac how often are you changing your diff/t-case oils. Manual says 5 yrs or 75,000
on the t-case and every 10yrs for the diffs. I would think these intervals would shorten
with more offroad use. Curious to know how often you do yours.

Thanks. I wonder if it affects an 07? I'll check my VIN tomorrow.

Did all three at the 67.5K mile visit. 50/100/150k would have been easier to remember, had I thought of it sooner

Not a big expense, considering the alternative.

Did all mine at 60.000 miles, next change at 100.000.Diff oils are now synthetic, except T-case which i will switch to soon as longest I find synthetic equivalent for our Transfer case.I think , it is wise to change them every 50 K, also as heard on disco forum i am looking for changing oil in transmission,i can't find anyone to do it , well except dealer ,yet...
