:stupid:My passenger rear electric window dropped down recently and i am part way to repairing it and i have come across a problem.
I have managed to remove the door card and the foam insulation on my range rover and I can see all the fixings for the regulator but one of them is behind the glass. Can anyone explain how to get to this fixing please?

I worked it out - but here's how

:stupid:My passenger rear electric window dropped down recently and i am part way to repairing it and i have come across a problem.
I have managed to remove the door card and the foam insulation on my range rover and I can see all the fixings for the regulator but one of them is behind the glass. Can anyone explain how to get to this fixing please.

SOLUTION.

Undo the fixing which holds the glass to the regulator - the glass is loose now and you can slide it up and down freely - but it is still in front of one fixing at the top of the regulator.

I pulled out the gasket from around the window from the outside taking care not to damage it. This exposes three screws which hold on the trim to the hinge side of the door, I undid the top two screws enabling me to increase the width of the rebate which means the glass will slide up and out - take care not to scratch the paint as the glass slides up.

Once the glass is out you can undo the fixings easily and take out the regulator - carefully unplug the motor using a small flat head screwdriver to lift the plastic clip on the underside.

I have had to re-fit the glass until the new part arrives - the wire was all mashed up in the winding mechanism. To do this you need another pair of hands so you don't drop the glass as you feed it back into the slot from the outside.

Once the glass is in the door again you just feed the gasket back in to the door surround and push the ends back inside the door - there is a screw on the glass divider which can be loosened so the gasket moves down freely.

Once this gasket is pushed back on the sides and top the glass will locate back as original. Remember to fix the trim to the hinge side with the two screws before you put the gasket in properly if you are finishing the job and not just locating the glass until the part arrives.

I cut a piece of plastic and wedged it under the glass to stop it dropping down until the new part is fitted.
