We are HUGE fans of the Blizzak LM-60 in 255/50R20 which is for the factory 20" wheel.

I used to run them ALL YEAR, buying a new set every October. This past year, I decided to go back to dedicated summer tires (a bit more sporty) so only run the Blizzaks from Nov1 - May 1.

What makes the Blizzaks so good is the right angle on the outer tread. Snow tire compounds make the tires grip amazingly well on ice, but it is that hard right angle that allows the grip + turn in deep, unplowed snow. I've tried winter tires from Pirelli & Michelin, and they were great on ice but awful in the deep stuff. It's that 90 degree leading edge that makes the difference...

Agree that Blizzaks are the way Togo I the snow. Had them on an X5and they performed great.

go with nokian WRs - they are the best all season tire on the market. they get a snow flake for the winter. they are all you need in winters like we get in the northeast. they hold up great in 90 degree summers as well.

if u really want a dedicated snow use the nokian hakkapeliittas - nothing beats those - they make blizzaks looks tame, ive used both on many cars. the nokians are harder to find but if they have the size you need go with nokian all day

Which stock tires are you speaking of? My 2016 HSE Lux that arrives next week comes with Pirelli Scorpion Zero's on 20's.
We don't head up to the snow much at all so I am thinking those will be ok.
For now as far as ******** wheeling I have my 75 Bronco with BFG AT's to take care of that itch when it needs to be scratched. That's not to say down the line I won't be switching out the 20's on my Disco.

The Continentals, which were factory set for several years are not very good in snow or ice. Which is why I got Nokian Hakkapeliita R2 SUV winter tires. They are amazing.

I've always run snow tires on my cars living in Maine. No choice really. I do enjoy the avid "All Seasons are just as good in the snow" argument now and again. Mostly people who have never had dedicated snow tires, so they do know the real difference. To me it's a very simple argument, it does not matter what drive you have (FWD, AWD, 4x4...) or what traction control aids the vehicle is equipped with. Tires are the only thing holding you to the road, stop being cheap and get the appropriate tire for the condition. Same argument can be made for off road tires, HWY tire... you get the idea.
