Tires related question

I have one tires related question. Tires are Nokian APT A/T, 255/20/R50. 2.5 years old and less than 8K miles on them.

After returning from trip (car was sitting under roof for 30 days) I discovered that rear right tire was half way depleted. The car was parked during this time on flat surface. I did inflated it but the problem returned several days later.

I moved it back where it was parked before - on the inclined driveway (car facing downwards) and I see that rear right is not as depleted after 3-5 days as before but now the front left got depleted half way.

Moved car to flat surface again, left from last Saturday when I inflated every tire to 34 PSI and today discovered lower right almost completely depleted and front left pressure dropped to 20 PSI. Other two are fine.

So... what causes this and how can one fix it?

I took first at Tire Rack but they refused even to look at them telling that side thread on rear tires are worn and telling me that this is because wheel alignment and the only way to fixt is - to buy new tires (from them).

Then I took it at another shop, they took $100 and tell me that nothing is wrong with tires or wheels.

So... what to do? I am not willing to running from place to place or spend another $1400 on new tires.

Everything was fine for 2.5 years

Well - no on that part - Les Schwab and Tire rack simply refused even to remove tire due to a single tire. I told them that I would pay - they refused. And the local mexican shop took $100 and told me there 'everything is fine'.

Fortunately there is a guy in our neighborhood, who has own shop and agreed to take a look.

Moral of the story - having your own mechanic is as crucial as having a good doctor.

Or you can become mechanic on your own which LR successfully does with their customers since 1947.

Wanted to update on this matter. Several things were going on/discovered.

First, on front left tire - it was a puncture and losing air depended on how tire was positioned, so it would lose air unevenly. That was fixed

On rear tires it was way more serious situation - upon inspection it was discovered that rear tires had excessive wear to the point that on rear left wires started to be visible. It seems that the tire shop that installed tires 2 years ago also screwed up alignment and that caused brand new tires to be completely trashed within 2 years and less than 4000 miles. Tires needed to be replaced - I ordered couple and installed them at the tire/alignment shop that also fixed the puncture in the front left.

Alignment shop provided following printout after alignment results. According to GPT - the alignment was really bad before and it should be causing the exactly the type of wear on rear tires I've seen. GPT also says that the new result is good and no immediate action is needed however it cautions that one might need suspension adjustment so it is within specs.


Because rear right tire was losing air as well I had to replace that tire with the spare from the trunk - when mounting new tires the new tire went on the spare tire's rim, the spare tire was mounted on the the rim that was used as rear right before and went to the trunk for future

And the icing on the cake - in the spare tires compartment discovered two mice nests with mice crap and *** all over - it took half day to clean/disinfect it. Have no idea how many cables did they chew...
