First time Rover owner. This might be a long read, apologies in advance.

I got this truck in April of this year. She’s a 2011 HSE named Janet. She had 96k miles when I picked her up. I completed her 100k maintenance last month, so that’s out of the way. Now I’m ready to start planning her transformation into an off-road party girl!

I’ve been looking at quite a few forums and sites for Rovers, and haven’t found a lot of info pertaining to modifications and such specifically for the LR4. I found this site’s link and joined in the hopes that I can exchange info with other folks who have experience with this model.

My first mod investment is going to be in lift and wheels/tires. I have been told that the software lift is sufficient to get me into the size of off-road tire and wheel combo I’m looking for, but I am not sure that’s 100% accurate. Do you all have any thoughts or suggestions on that?

I have included a few pics of Janet for context. I’m super excited to join this forum and can’t wait to exchange info with all of you!

Welcome to the forum. I would recommend an actual lift, I know I sell them on eBay for $45 and they are not hard to install.

Welcome! I've seen software lifted trucks locally with 32" tires. Seems to work ok. Lift rods just trick the computer so the end result is the second either way as far as I can tell. I believe JCs British in Denver does software lifts. I've no direct experience with either approach yet though.

Welcome to the forum. Keep us posted on what you decide on the lift.

What size tire are you planning? A software lift will get you about 35mm ish of lift for the normal setting, but each truck is different. If you’re planning on lifting permanently, I’d suggest the rods.

I have no firsthand knowledge of the rods, but lots of rovers run them with no issues that I’ve seen. Just get an alignment after installation.
