I'm not really sure where to go at this point. Local LR dealer took my 2012 LR4 in for its final under warranty service on July 2.
The engine had been ticking for quite some time, and I had them look at the issue in January of 2016, 2017 and January of 2018. All three times it came back as "could not recreate" and they blamed it on the vehicle just being cold. In April/May of 2018, it was still making the noise, and it was no longer cold overnight. I made the call the last week of my warranty, and the first date they could take it in and give me a loaner vehicle was July 2.
They were finally able to recreate and it was the timing chain. They kept insisting that they were just waiting for the warranty approval to come in, since technically I was past my warranty, but I made the appointment within my warranty. It took about a month for them to get the approval, and then it took a couple weeks to get the parts. <--- All of this seems very fishy to me.
They finally brought the vehicle to me a few days ago. Upon receipt, there was a scratch on the driver side door, and the handle had a nick in it. There were cobwebs all over the vehicle. Even more alarming, though, was that the pollen from the spring was still all over the engine and engine cover. It looked like it hadn't even been touched. Many of the bolts were corroded, and it looks like none had been removed. Also, there is an "H" marked on the engine, which I can't recall ever being there, but I'm not 100% sure about this. My husband seems to think that this is "junk yard" markings. While the ticking seems to have been fixed, the actual shifter is incredibly stiff and clunky, not the smooth shifting that it had before going in.
Another issue was replacing the driver side windshield wiper mechanism. No less than 3 times has the driver wiper over turned and gone off the vehicle. Again, this has been "fixed" at least 2 times and now they were supposed to fix the stripped bolt. And again, this doesn't seem to have been touched upon return.
Also, not sure why the oil change mileage is 77k, when the vehicle has 68k. They changed the oil as part of the service, but did they drive it over 1500 miles?
I promptly called the dealer and told them to take it back. They insist all issues were fixed, but they will deal with the scratched door and handle. This was 3 days ago, and I haven't heard anything from them.
I called at least 2x per week all summer long. I'm not even sure what to do at this point or if there is anything that can be done. It's just getting VERY old not having my own vehicle.
