I JUST bought my first Landy. It is a 2012 LR4 HSE. Does not have the read differential lock.

A friend suggested i spend my money like this, in this order:

1- Rock Sliders ($350)

2- Tires: Atturo Trail Blade - 19” set of 5 for ($700)

3- Maxtrax ($300)

4- Bumpers Tactical front ($1720) and rear ($?) Lucky8's

5- IID tool from GAP Diagnostics ($550)

6- Dometic CFX40 fridge ($500) + 2nd battery ($100)

7- Rear Differential Lock ($1500)

I would like to know, is this the best way to spend my money? Do you have any suggestions, corrections, arguments? Please, I’d rather rely on the advice of people with experience, and not just go buy with no experience.

ALSO: This would all take place AFTER making sure that the car is in proper order first. I will make sure proper maintenance is up-to-date and car is running fine before doing these things.

I want to get i to off-roading, but i do not do it yet. This list is what my friend suggested as a best bang for my buck, and must haves when starting out.

Also, he suggested those tires so i dont have to buy all new rims and still get cool offroad tires.

If you're going to do all that work, I'd think you'd want a set of 18" wheels for sidewall protection, and ability to run E load range.

Also, I dont believe there's a rear locking differential available (unless factory equipped) for the LR4.

Do you want "cool" offroad tires, or do you actually want to go offroad?

If I was spending all that money on offroad stuff, I would get 18" wheels and legit, E-rated off-road tires with the accompanying sidewall strength.

You can retrofit a Land Rover locking rear using all Land Rover parts, but it's work.

18" wheels and the requisite mods to run 275/65 or 275/70 tires, Proud Rhino strut spacers, and a GAP Tool is where I would start.

Nothing else adds as much capability or flexibility as those changes.

A real set of sliders that protect the compressor such as the TR ones would probably be next.

Theoretically, or has it been done? Way beyond my skill level, but I'm curious what the final hours / $$ was if so.

18's are really the way to go, BUT if you don't have nor want to spend the money, the Arturo's or Duratracs on 19's would suffice. I've got some pretty sick trails with my 19's with no problem except once

It's been done. There was a thread on here a few months ago. A guy in there explained how he did it.

I think the steps are to put in the HD rear diff, put in the HD ECU, then use the iiD tool to get it all to talk to one-another.
