I purchased the ProSpeedUK Discovery 4 Front Spotlight Mounts with two TripleR-750 LazerLamps and I'm now in the process of...looking for a way to actually hook them up. I probably should've figured that out before I actually bought the lights, but here we are.

Since I know next to nothing about wiring or electrical systems I figured my best bet was the 4x4 sPOD BantamX. It seems to be a very popular (albeit pricey) option in the off-road community and is as close as you can get to a complete plug and play solution. However, I will say despite having a universal option it seems tailored (or at least more popular) for the Jeep/Yota crowd. I've tried to find out what my fellow Rover community uses in their trail-rigs, however I haven't found a good answer...or any, really.

Has anyone here installed a 4x4 sPOD on their Discovery4 and if so, are you happy with it? Where did you mount it in the engine bay?

If not but you have a power distribution set-up for your lights, what are you using?

I’m about to install my front spot lamps and route them through an rf relay box. The plan is to use the home link on the rear view mirror to control them.

The way I see it is I’ve 3 buttons there that I can use to operate aux items.

I’m not too much of a fan on cutting the interior to install extra switches etc.

One other thing I was thinking is to maybe get the front vanity light cover 3D printed with some space for additional buttons. But that’s nothing I’ve looked into yet.

Stu.

I did this on my '11 LR4 where it replaces the ash tray. The rj45 port is for my ham radio mic.

That is slick. Did you fab up the plate to replace the ashtray yourself, or did you find a off-the-shelf item that fits?

I currently have my air comp and front locker switches in the the little console cubby to the right of the shift lever, but I live in fear of somebody popping into the truck without an idea of what they are doing and blowing out the front diff. Like the thought of them higher up, maybe with a covered toggle switch.

I'm not a fan of cutting into the interior either which is why the 4x4 sPOD looked like a good option. You run an ethernet cable through the fire-wall and connect to the switch panel that can be mounted using tradition suction-cup/sticky mounts in the cabin.

That sounds awesome but I would have no idea how to even start a project like that. I wish there was some wiring/electrical resource that gave a rundown for me so I don't screw anything up trying to learn lol

I got a 6 gang rocker switch panel from amazon and made a few modification cuts in the back to make it fit. Since all my lights are external, I used Cat6 ethernet cable through the LH firewall to individual relay switches to power the lights. Basically, the Cat6 cable is just a signal wire to the relays that provide the actual (positive) power feed.

I also tapped the cigarette plug for the rocker switch illumination. So that the rocker lights will light up with the ignition.

Give me a while to get “wrench’n’roverin” up and live on YouTube and it’ll all be there.

OK, this could be fun now. Just browsing the multi-switch panels on ebay. Can get mudflap girl, stripper pole girl, girl performing service, etc. lighted switch covers. My wife is gonna love this.

Haha, I had a few strange ones like zombie, nucular, etc... when I asked my wife to turn on the zombie lights, she was didn't understand what zombie lights were and got mad. I could only imagine, "Babe, can you hit the 'stripper pole lights' for the led whip?"
