So I was under the hood as my start/stop feature just decided to start working again and I wanted to test the battery to see if it was dying on me (unrelated to my question however) and while I had the plastic cover off on the driver's side (US left side) I noticed a bundle of small wires leading to a plug and that bundle feeding towards the firewall and I believe ending up in the other plastic box housing the main battery. What concerns me is there is no sheath/cover protecting them and they seem to be somewhat vulnerable to the elements. I'm wondering if they were once covered and does anyone have a photo of what that might look like, aside from identifying what they are? I took a small video of it and here is a picture as well just in case, but the video does a better job. It is directly behind the start/stop battery. Thanks!

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think they ever had any covering around them. Are they pretty close to something that would get hot that you maybe wierd about?

No, not heat but the wires are all so thin and seem easily damaged with the slightest touch. The plug isn't secured to anything and just flops around. I would have thought it would have been screwed or clamped down to something. Those wires do run outside the plastic box so they are exposed to the elements which for me is salt, snow, grime, etc.... I was curious if that's the way it is on others or if they have been uncovered and someone simply was too lazy to put it all back together again. If so, I would figure out a way to protect them.

There should be a Christmas tree type fastener on the bottom of the connector. It just attaches to the plastic floor of the battery box. As far as the wires, no, they don't have a sheath. Just the factory tape to keep them bundled.

Here are some pics with components removed to help. In the mostly empty photo, you can see the multiple holes on the bottom of the box, and one on a bracket from the TCM.

Hope that helps!
