Looking for some info on the iiD process for CLEAR ADAPTION VALUES. Once selection is started, does it provide a list of system(s) that can be reset such as fuel pumps, O2 sensors, etc. Or does it reset everything across the board? And once completed, it states it will require a security reset. What security and what process? Reason is I would like to see if Resetting the O2 sensors would resolve an issue with it throwing the CAT Bank 1 bad error code.

Wondering if shop (dealer) actually did this after replacing both the high pressure fuel pumps. If they didn't (or if they did and it didn't work for bank 1) it may help the ECU get newer data on the bank 1 O2 sensors and rule out a clogged CAT code P0420.

There's no resetting of the O2 sensors themselves, they're always on and always reporting a value. Adaptions are for transmission shifts and the overall fuel map. Resetting the fuel map isn't going to do anything for a cat that is triggering "system efficiency below threshold". Your choices are to just live with it, try and band-aid the situation, or put a new cat in.

Band-aid choices are to put a spark plug anti fouler between the last O2 sensor and the exhaust or to remove the cat and essentially boil it in a hot acid to clean it. An anti fouler is cheap and fast. Trying to regenerate a cat is messy and dangerous.

could be a bad o2 sensor mid cat or post cat (sensor 2 or 3) but as stated above, you don’t reset the sensors. You should be able to pull the sensor volts off the data stream and see whats going on. also maybe check the sensors heater duty cycle. there was a tsb on the mid or post cat o2 sensors - something to do with the heaters blowing out.

Thinking I'll give the #2/3 O2 replacement route a try first. If it doesn't help/or correct the issue they can be used in a new CAT. TY for the feedback.

To wrap it up -- I purchased a DAVICO CAT and all three O2 sensors. Took the parts to a local Exhaust shop that replaced the CAT & 1st & 2nd O2 sensors. Reused the 3rd original as the one i bought didn't seem correct. Once home, cleared codes and Adaption Values for the O2 sensors with GAP tool.

Vehicle was throwing the bad cat code within a few days/week/miles before the repair. Have now put over 1K miles & several weeks and no CEL/codes so think it's good to go. Good news was able to recycle and get paid for the original CAT! That helped offset some cost.

How was the quality of the Davico? I bought one for my old Volvo and had to go over the welds with my stick welder.

I chose factory when my LR4 needed a new cat because I didn't want to be messing around with a poorly fitting unit on my back in the driveway.

@scapistron -- fit like a glove. Welds were really good and fitment was as good as an OEM would/could be. Welds looked as good as the OEM unit once it was removed and I had it on my bench to look at. Bore scoped the Original but couldn't see anything unusual.
