Hello everyone! My 2018 Land Rover Discovery 5 3.0 Diesel, after turning the ignition on and idling for about a minute, was put into R. After driving back about 5 meters, the car stopped. I thought there was an obstacle and shifted the transmission into D. A transmission fault message appeared on the screen. Further ignition cycles and shifting the transmission into R, N, D, and S prevent movement, and the screen displays a transmission fault message. The error scanner showed codes P1707-77 and U0402(00). There had been no transmission issues up to this point, including unusual noises and jerking when shifting. What could be causing the malfunction?

The P1707-77 DTC could be caused by the manual park release cable sticking.
Look under the hood, on the left side. You will see a short lever that is used to the park pawl.
Cycle the lever a couple time and make sure it is released back to the down position.
This can also trigger the other DTC.

We checked the cable and the manual shift lever itself. Unfortunately, the transmission continues to display fault codes.
