Has anyone else had a problem with the sides of the front seats starting to crack? On my 2005 LR3, the side of the seat (the part you sit on) "folds" in the same place every time I sit on the seat. It appears that this folding and unfolding in the same place has caused the seat to start to crack. The driver's side is worse since it gets much more use. I plan to bring this to the dealer's attention since the LR3 is still under warranty.

Oooooh, that sucks. My past truck did that. I've made a point of keeping the LR3 seats treated (moisturized, I guess) with leather conditioner so this wouldn't happen. I don't think I do it often enough, but so far so good.

How many miles do you have on it? Not surprised though, I never did think it was very high quality leather.

I do the same as Todd, but I probably do it TOO often! Anyway, my fronts seem fine but my driver's side rear seat has torn on the side where it meets the plastic part. There is sort of a hard edge there and it has caused a tear. It appeared a year ago and the dealer was kind enough to fix it at no charge (this may be a wear and tear item and not warranty item) but it has come loose again.

40,000 miles. LR dealer just called and said "not covered by warranty". I will take it up with LR corporate from this point.

Honestly, I think all you can do is ask nicely at this point. It is not a warranty item.

Check on Disco3.co.uk. I remember some threads awhile back about defective seat skins. There was a TSB out on it.

I disagree, at 48k miles (not 40k as stated before) leather seats should not start to wear on a Land Rover. This is suppose to be a tough off road vehicle. Unfortunately, coporate LR agreed with the dealer that this is normal wear & tear. So, my next move is to post on every forum that I can, make a video for YouTube, and let the world know that the rough & tough Land Rover leather seats wear out at 48k miles. Doesn't say much for the quality of the LR.

Smithwick, I feel for you... but this isn't exactly a product defect that everyone is experiencing. I honestly wouldn't expect any manufacturer to cover direct wear and tear items like this.

Not directly related... but even the customer service darlings at Lexus didn't cover my buddy's Lexus tan seats becoming light blue in 2 years due to his constant wearing of dark blue jeans. It wasn't considered a flaw in the leather.
