Hi there

I have a 1999 Disco 2 with a standard Harmon Kardon speaker system
Lately I have been experiencing problems with my woofer--it sounds like its rattling and sometimes it sounds as if someone is like shaking something, etc, etc.
Now I have a few questions:
1)Is the woofer blown?
2)If not what is the problem, and the cheapest/most convenient way to fix it
3) Also if the woofer is blown, I was planning on upgrading the woofer/amp system
which one would I have to buy--and also if I had the current woofer fixed--could I do something with a new amp?

I know it sounds a bit confusing but any help would be appreciated

Thanks!!

I had the same issue. My 2000 D2 made the LOUDEST rattling sound in the back door when the radio was on. In my case it turned out to be rust/corrosion along the bottom of the door that left the outer skin and the inner door frame rattling against each other. I put in some hot glue, just to separate and cushion the two parts and it did the trick.

The subwoofer surrounds on my 00D2 were rotted. I ordered new surrounds online for around $24. I took an hour or so to take everything apart, clean off the old foam and glue new surrounds on. While I waited for the glue to dry, I straightened out the dents in the grille with a block of wood and gave it a shot of satin black.

Overall results are that the speaker looks and sounds 80% better. Still goes all flappy on deep base when the spatiial is on, but that might be an amp issue.
