    Oil leak, filter?

My guess is that when they removed the old filter the gasket stayed on the block. Then they installed the new filter and basically "doubled" the gasket. The filter will still appear to be tight, but oil will leak out between the two gaskets. If this is the case, it's a pretty common rookie...

LR3 Regular Cleaning and keeping it looking Good

I concur, Griots is good stuff. The best part is they sell kits that may include everything you need at a discount.

    Me & My Dipstick

Out of curiosity, I just checked mine. Three times. All three times I got slightly different readings, but all were within about 1mm. I'm guessing that's probably normal. Hope this helps.

    First Road Trip

For the record, your LR3 does not have a BMW engine. The engine is a Jaguar 4.2L V8 that was modified and bored out to 4.4L. Also, there are numerous threads on this forum discussing the use of synthetic oils in new car engines. Bottom line is that nobody really agrees on whether or not it...

    Synthetic Oil

LMAO!!! Do you know how many times that has happened to me? And honestly, how do you know if the mechanic doesn't just put the case of Mobil 1 in the trunk of his car and use the factory oil anyway? Again, it just boils down to who you trust. Frankly, it's getting harder and harder to trust...

    Synthetic Oil

Thanks, Randy! I've searched the net pretty thoroughly and I haven't come up with much. Unless anyone has evidence against it, I'm going to run conventional oil to about 2500 miles and then change to Mobil 1.

    Synthetic Oil

Please read the following discussion on using synthetic oil during the initial car break-in period and comment. I am looking forward to some intelligent discussion on this topic, so please refrain from the "well, my daddy told me to..." remarks (unless, of course, your father was a mechanical...

    $2k off '06 LR3

Yes, the Tacoma store is closer. Keep me posted on your first service - I'm very interested to know how it goes. I'm switching over to full synthetic as well. I've always used Mobil 1 - even in much less expensive cars. That said, I haven't had any problems [violently knocking on wood]...

    On board air

When I owned a Jeep Wrangler I used to go off-road with a buddy that had on board air. For those of you that don't know, this system consisted of an air compressor, tank, regulator, and air hose. We used it to fill our tires up after off-roading with lowered tire pressure. Now, the LR3...

    Just picked up 2006 HSE

Congrats, and welcome to the forum. I'm pretty new here too, but I think this is the best resource out there for LR3 owners. Take the time to do a search for any issues you may have - all of the most common problems have already been discussed. Enjoy your new LR3!

    $2k off '06 LR3

I picked mine up two weeks ago ('06 HSE). I was happy with the way I was treated even though my salesman was a bit strange. Anyway, no major problems yet. There were a few minor irritants upon delivery however. The spare tire was loose - I can't believe they didn't catch that one. Also...

    WA dealers

Anyone in the Seattle/Tacoma area, please let me know what dealer you prefer to use for service. I purchased my LR3 from the Bellevue store, but it is quite a haul for me to drive there for service (about 60 miles). That said, if the majority of the replies I get rave about their service...

    $2k off '06 LR3

Where do you live, Dropper? My dealer (Bellevue, WA) took $5000 off the MSRP without a coupon. I didn't even have to ask, HE OFFERED! Good luck with your purchase!

    OEM Oil

Both the Jag 4.2l V-8 and the LR3 4.4l V-8 (basically the same engine, the LR3's being bored out a bit) use the Fram PH9010 filter. Find a wrench that fits that filter and you'll be on your way.

    OEM Oil

Hmmm...my dealer told me that they are using Castrol synthetic blend. Nevertheless, that crap is coming out and a full synthetic will be going in ASAP. Thanks for reminding me to do this!

Can HDC button be easily removed?

A possible solution? I think I may have an answer. Permatex makes an electrical contact cleaner that I've seen in auto parts stores in the past. It is a quick drying solution that doesn't leave a residue. Here's the link to the company's web site...
