Picked my car up from the 3rd full week of service in the past 3 months and on my way home found that the HDC button was stuck in (which is giving me a HDC Not Available warning on my info screen). Don't know if it got knocked during service or if its just a coincidence and maybe the car cleaners hit it. Anyway...

I found that I could pry it back up with a small screwdriver, but when you push it down, it stays down. (no more springyness).

LR will replace the switch, but after not having my car much of the summer I'm going to wait until my 30K visit since I don't use the HDC button anyway, but, its still annoying as it can get hit easily.

Anyone know if I can pop this button off to clean it? I'm wondering if some dirt got underneath. Anyway, if I can easily pop it off, clean it, and put it back on, that may be easier than taking it in.

Thanks.

Mines sticks too. I dont know why. I pressed it over and over again (with the engine off) and it seems to be less 'sticky'

A possible solution?

I think I may have an answer. Permatex makes an electrical contact cleaner that I've seen in auto parts stores in the past. It is a quick drying solution that doesn't leave a residue. Here's the link to the company's web site:

http://www.caswellplating.com/permatex/permcleaners.html

This should clean the part without damaging any of the electrics. Let me know how it works out.

I filled mine w/ coffee, but sprayed foamy glass cleaner on it, and pressed it a couple of times and it went away.
