    Amber brake warning light

There's a sensor on the front left brake and the rear right my 2011 LR4. Assuming it's the same across the V8 range. As Umbertobob pointed out, that leaves the other two wheels unmonitored, and it's not easy to eyeball pad wear without some crawling around. At least the the aftermarket pad...

New to Me LR4 -Towing wiring - where to buy

I have the AB hitch wiring connected up to the truck - no violation of warranty. I haven't actually towed with it yet, so I can't speak to functionality, but it didn't trip anything, and didn't release the magic smoke.

    Brakes on 2011 LR4

EBC yellow went to nothing in 12k miles on my '11 LR4. And ate the rotors. Take the advice of the other posters, do EBC greens.

    Newbie here!To buy extended warranty..or not ?

My extended warranty (as Umberto noted, purchased through an LR dealer) just ate a timing chain failure, valve control motor and thus saved me over $6k. I'm ahead of the game at this point.

    roof rack

Full rack I sprung for the full Baja rack and have been really happy with it. Couple of multi-state car trips with it, nothing has fallen off :) It does whistle a bit, but I think some foam or a rubber strip under the front faring should make things nicer. Cheap fix once it warms up again.

    extended warranty and mods

For what it's worth, I was bemoaning the cost of the extended warranty on my '11 a month ago, and how it was basically a scam... then an engine light came on and it paid for a timing chain, valve control motor and a bunch of attendant parts. Well over $6k in repairs and I wasn't out a dime...

Just bought a '11 LR4 HSE LUX (sort of)

Nice, that's where I got my '11 as well. Good folks. Congrats, and enjoy your new baby!

Just bought a '11 LR4 HSE LUX (sort of)

Could you send a picture? I have a missing piece in the shroud (Colorado winter - got overzealous and punched out a section of the honeycomb area trying to get the ice out from the base of the wiper arms) but that's not going to leak into the cabin.

Just picked up EBC pads and rotors

Around 30k on the OEM set, and I've tried to drive so that I'm coasting to slow down on the freeway, not gas/brake/gas/brake. Granted, this is Colorado random brake test land here, and there's been construction for over a year on the stretch I drive... probably should have done the green pads...

Just picked up EBC pads and rotors

Just got my service report from the dealer, and after changing my pads and rotors (EBC, yellow and sport slotted, respectively) 12k miles ago, they're saying they're down to replacement thickness on both pads and rotors. Not impressed - the brakes sang all year long, faint metallic squeal, and...

    Jack question

Fine, I'm buying a scissor jack from a 2004 Altima and some duct tape. I don't need your help *sniff*

    LR4 with 3 kids?

My wife has taken the kids and her parents (late 70's) from Colorado to California, and they did just fine for comfort, other than the tedium of a two-day trip. Third row fully down makes it uncomfortable with the second row full, but if you can drop just one of the seats in the third row, it...

    Jack question

I've read through the posts on jacks, but they all seemed to be extraction-related, and I'm looking more for one for the garage or flat ground if I need to change a tire out in the boonies. I have a 12 ton bottle jack and stands, but that's a lot to haul around with three kids in the back, and...

    Strut or suspension failure?

They did do a full height calibration check, only 3mm difference between front left and front right. Took it up onto some of the beater roads here in CO (uglier than a dirt road, easier than an empty creek bed) and it sailed through everything.

    Kaymar Bumper Question

I heard back from Eric at Tactical 4x4 this afternoon. Good news all around, methinks: Hi Ryan, Yes it's true. We are just about to introduce the rear bumper for the LR4 as well as the tire carrier. All the same features apply just as they do on the LR3. For know the pricing is the same...

    Strut or suspension failure?

Had the Dealership in Littleton check it out - even kept it overnight, pulled the fuse and saw no drop. Consensus is that my head is crooked.

    Strut or suspension failure?

It seems like it's permanently off on that corner - driving (thought it's less noticeable) and from the second I park it. It's not an auto-leveling thing.

    Strut or suspension failure?

I checked through old posts and couldn't find anything that seems to replicate what I'm seeing on my rig (2011 LR4, no mods). When I park, there's a small but noticeable dip on the front left corner of the hood. This is easily confirmed by measuring between the top of the front tires and the...

What's the motivation to upgrade the stock amp? Anyone know the specs on the factory amplifier?

    DuraTracs!

Seconded I have almost 5k on my 255/55 19 Duratracs as well, really happy. Been in mud, snow and water-covered highways with no issues. I'm running them around 46 PSI front and rear as a personal preference. Ride is just fine.

Trailer Hitch Receiver from Atlantic British?

One year follow up The Atlantic British hitch reciever is now a lovely shade of orange, and I live in a state that doesn't use salt on the roads. I'd advise approaching that purchase warily. Wish I'd just gotten the OEM one for both the structural integrity and build quality as well as the...

    Hood Open warning

Figured I'd post this to save others some headache. Got a random 'Hood Open' alarm on the digital display, no recent work, other than a headlight bulb change. Both left, right and safety catches were all fully functional, but there appeared to be either a short or a bent piece of metal in...

    Brakes for an LR4

Ditto I have the EBC slotted rotors and Yellow Stuff pads on my '11 LR4, and now that they've settled in (about 2k miles on them now) the bite is considerably better. Brake dust is just as bad or worse than OEM, but I didn't buy the truck to swish around in looking pretty.

    Squeaky brake pedal release

May just be that the calipers could use a little lubrication and are causing light drag, could be the pads themselves 'singing' as they go between full stop and rolling. I just did my brakes and I got a little of that initially, but it's gotten better.
