A couple weeks ago I was in a bad accident with a minivan. The van was coming the other way, taking a left turn through my lane. The van pulled right in front of me as I was going through the intersection - no time to even hit the brakes.

Amazingly.. I walked away without a scratch. Unfortunately, the 3 illegal immigrants in the van weren't wearing seatbelts. They were sent to shock trauma for head injuries.

Long story short - the driver was unlicensed and uninsured.. so i have a mess to deal with right now. On the bright side, the occupants of the van have since been released from the hospital.

My car has been totaled. I’ll post some photos of the crash in the next couple days.

There’s no doubt that the Rover saved me from bad injuries. I’m looking at an ’07 HSE to replace my ’05 SE. Does anybody have a customer loyalty coupon that I could use?

Wow, glad to hear you and the others will be OK. Sad way to hear it, but it's nice to know that about our trucks.

I don't have a coupon but acquired one by contacting LRNA directly. As matter of fact, the positive PR you just provided should be at least worth that.

I would think that a picture of you walking away from a totaled LR3 would be a pretty good loyalty coupon....

sorry no photos of the van.. i'll see if i can get them from the police report.

you can't really see the extent of the damage since the plastic bumper, which was still tethered to the car by one fog light wire, couldn't be removed by the tow truck driver.. he used other wires protruding from the engine compartment to reattach the bumper well enough so that the vehicle could be towed.

Wow! Even with some of the damage hidden the car looks like it stood up like a tank!

Was anyone in your car with you? (I noticed both front airbags deployed)

How was the airbag impact? Did any of the seat or side curtain airbags come down? (or whatever we have on the sides)

Basically, I have luckily never been in a car when air bags were deployed and I'm curious on your experience in that regard.

Again, sorry about your truck and glad to hear you're okay!
