1988 wont start please help

i have 1988 range rover classic country wont run soon as you turn on key fuel pump turns on then right back off again i think its not getting a ref. signal from distributor any ideas would help and if any one has agood schematic for coil wireing it would be appec.

Some basic info is always good:

Last tune up (plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter, dizzy cat, etc.)

any issues prior to the no starting.

Mileage

Are you getting spark

Fuel pressure at the fuel rail.

does the engine crank or just sit there....

I HAD THE WRONG WIRE HOOKED TO COIL SO ECM WASnt get a ref signal to run the injectors thanks for your input
