I too find it hard to believe that a wire corroded inside the cabin without some other precipitating cause. mustbeaudi gives excellent advice to "challenge it by identifying that deficiency and insisting that it become the covered failure".

There are several known causes of water intrusion into drivers or passengers footwell area that could easily be related to this failure.

1. A-pillar water leak - LR Tech Bulletin LA-501-006 "Water ingress through A-pillar trim attachment holes"
2. Sunroof drain tubes plugged - LR Tech Bulletin LA-501-014 "Water ingress into the cabin"
3. A/C drain tube becomes detached.
4. Lastly, an unbonded body panel seam!? Read here...

Good luck, I hope this info didn't come too late...

The cable between the actuator and the latch has broken. I have replaced more than 30 of these. You have to cut into the lower taildoor from inside then pull the cable manually, then replace the latch, actuator and rear door panel. If not under warranty you can just replace the cable yourself.

Do a quick search around the forum; I believe most issues of this nature where due to a physical cable snap (ie, not electrical), but it has occured to a few people.

Also, which warranty do you have? If it's the LandRover Assured warranty, the electrical system should be included, unless they can show the fault is do to corrosion/rust - regardless of which one you have, check the warranty wording - "all electrical" sounds like a pretty large omission...

(PS, I've had electrical items covered under my LR Assured Warranty - technically I'm in Canada, but the LR Assured is adminstered by EasyCare adjusters in Atlanta, Georgia).

hey dude, i guess i heard that Georgia auto repair. actually i am from georgia and i guess that's the place where my cousin brought his car.
