The battery of my 05 (23,000) LR3 blow up and the acid went in to the electrical system. The dealer said that there are no parts in North America and would have to get from England. It will take till the middle of January for the part to come in. That will be 2 months with out my car.
Do you think I should be compensated for the trouble? They did give me a loaner (LR2), but it is not a LR3.

If your car is in the shop for that long it may qualify as a lemon. There is no excuse for them not being able to get the parts for 2 months ! That is absurd.

...and what the heck caused your battery to "blow up?" I don't think I've ever heard of that.

Was just driving down the road and smelled rotten egg and thought I brakes froze or left on the emergence brake. When I got home and open the hood you could see the liquid under the cover for the battery and under the truck. Crazy
Texas has 30 days in shop for lemon law, but do not know if it is worth the fight.

let me ask you this...

what do YOU want them to do ?
maybe buy it back and just give you a new 08 and an apology for wasting your time ?

i think you're fortunate to be able to drive their car for two months while you rack miles up on it instead of yours. ;-)
did you make sure they cleaned all the acid out from the engine bay ?

this doesnt qualify under lemon law.
considering its an 05, it could be a variety of different causes. not a lemon issue.

good luck, but be realistic here...

Isn't mid-January about 1 month away? When did this happen? It's a pretty freak occurrence so it's no wonder they have to get the parts from England. Took em a couple months to get a Range Rover roof for me once...Trying to sue would just get you a lot of finger pointing between Land Rover and the maker of the battery etc...and would just be a pain in the ****.
It sucked that it happened, but like Billy said, just rack up the miles on the loaner and be happy. Heck, they could keep mine for a year if they wanted if I got loaner to drive for free....

LR3 trouble

1. I really do not know want I want. But they have in given me the runaround on this from the beginning. It should be a week and then not calling back to 1 or 2 weeks and still not calling back and the last time we should have the part in middle of January. I think I should get something for my time, I just don’t know what that would be.
That is why I posted for a little help.

2. Yes, I am driving a LR2 and they first gave me a LR3, but the heater did not work and all they have now is LR2. It is small and I use my truck to carry around lots of boxes and tables for displays and do not have the room I need. That is why I bought the LR3 for cargo space.

3. NO, I did not think of that about the engine bay with the acid, but will call

4. The truck was bought on 12/18/2005 , so I think that is right under 24 months

i think you do have a gripe, but its more along of how they are treating you. YOU need to go check out the area around the battery for rust/corrosion, its been long enough now to show.

I would suggest pressing harder for a LR3 loaner.
I would make sure the sulfuric acid from the battery isnt gonna cause you problems later, press them and make them say the words ;-)

i would be curious if it was truely a bad battery, or an electrical issue causing the battery issue.

good luck.

A.) I would DEFINITELY press harder for an LR3 loaner.

B.) It is on you to know the Lemon Law in your state. I can't say whether or not your car qualifies or not, but you need to know. Others on this board can't necessarily tell you.

....and I HAVE personally won a Lemon Law case. It's worth it to keep track of everything.

If this is impacting the course of your business and you can prove it, I'd suggest you either push for an LR3 loaner or some other, more suitable transportation.
