hi all, I've been doing a lot of research on a Land Rover product for my next vehicle.

I love the 2010-2013 products (full size, sport and LR4) but worry about the growing number of people with the plastic chain guide issue.

Recently a 2013 LR4 came up with 60,000 miles, is it true that the 5.0 received metal chain guides in 2013?

The truck does have higher mileage but is the first 2013 I've seen in my price range.

I was looking at a 2011 with 35,000miles but am very scared of the plastic chain guides and all the issues that could happen.

Just want to confirm the 2013's were metal before I take the next step.

I have literally never heard of this "plastic chain guide" issue in my 3.5 years on this forum.

Can you explain your source?

Google Range Rover 5.0 timing chain issue or Land Rover timing chain issue Ect.

There are quite a few threads about it.

2010-2012 5.0 and 5.0supercharged engines had plastic chain guides that wear over time causing catastrophic engine failure due to the 5.0 being an interference engine.

Jag/LR switched to steel chain guides in 2013 or so to fix the problem. There was even a recal/TSB overseas on it.

I agree, timing chain guides are not an LR4 5.0 issue, or at least not yet. When I did what you suggested and put the issue in google, all the treads I saw involved the supercharged 5.0 engine in the Range Rover.

That's what I found, too. That, and the old M62 BMW engine in the early '00's Range Rover.

Still not an LR4 issue based on everybody's posts here. Supercharger may add some stress to the "timing chain lever".
