I got the parts too but haven't installed yet. The damper is surprisingly heavy, a good 7lbs or so. Haven't looked to see if the vacant hole is threaded or not.

I went to harbor freight and for 11 bucks I bought a tapping bit set for a drill. The threads on the bolt are m 10 so you have to make sure you get that set (they also sell them on amazon cheap). It’s also beneficial to buy cutting fluid, but any type of lubricant or even soap would work I think. Keep the drill on low speed and the Chuck all the way down so it slips and go in an out to thread the “hole”. It work well but turns out it didn’t help my problem. Hopefully it works for you,

Hey did you ever install the damper? I’m having this same problem and I can’t even find the parts. Where did you pick up the parts?

Thanks!

Have you checked out Land Rover North Scottsdale? They installed the damper on my Discovery about 2 years ago.

Sounds like you need to tap the hole using the proper size tap for fixin' bolt IYP500080. Hope there's enough room to access it. What year is your LR4, btw?

I want to check this out on my 2010, as I've noticed a minor vibration similar to the description in the TSB. It isn't bad enough that I did any research, and I had kind of assumed it might be motor mounts starting to go. If I can bolt up a $60 weight to the side of the case and fix it, that would be (sort of) awesome.
I added the damper to my 2010 LR4 in summer 2020. Tapping the M10x1.5 hole did not go as smoothly as it should have, but the bolt torqued to spec, and otherwise worked fine. Adding the damper reduced the weird RPM-specific vibration by 80-90%.

Got mine from Land Rover Merriam parts, I want to say it was just over $50 for the damper and bolt. They were better priced than the dealer as well....

I just checked, that seems like a good price especially because I haven't found it anywhere else online. If LR North Scottsdale doesn't work out I'll do that. Thanks!

Just finished installing the damper. It took about 20 minutes.

Here is the untapped hole. TSB says it’s tapped… it’s not!

This looks to be the right size:

Wait, I can’t turn it…

How about a drill?

I tapped that hole like it’s never been tapped before.

Mmmm shiny threads.

Done!!

Now I did have a slight issue. The TSB says to torque to 55.5 lb/ft. I got to about 40 when it became a whole lot easier to tighten the bolt. I backed it out and confirmed that I stripped the holes a bit. I didn’t remove any of the damaged threads, rather just put the bolt back in and tightened until it was good enough. It seems pretty tight but I will keep my eye on it to see if backs out any. I really don’t want to drill it out and install a helicoil but I guess that’s plan B if this doesn’t hold.

I went for a drive and I do confirm that this fixes the vibration by about 80-90%. Enough so that you would not notice it if you didn’t know it was there.

10/10 would do it again!
