I have a 2000 land rover discovery with 77,000 miles on it. When I am in 4th gear and I take my foot off the gas the vehicle jerks like the transmission shifted back into 3rd. If I lightly tap the gas it will **** and then coast. I wrote before and people said it was the engine braking but it really jerks a lot and I don't think its normal. After the initial **** if i hit the gas to the floor i hear a loud clunk???

Without being behind the wheel of your vehicle, it's very difficult to diagnose the problem. My guess is that you have some wear in the rear diff. It may just need adjusting for mesh, but I wouldn't suggest you play with it yourself.

This sounds like the torque converter locking and unlocking.... this is normal on every Land Rover I have driven except the LR3.
