Hi folks:hello:,

I've just purchased this 99 Disco2 vehicle with 167,000 miles and it has a few problems.I would appreciate some direction from you knowledgeable folks since the mechanics where I brought it to said "THIS IS OUT OF OUR LEAGUE".

1: Three amigos.
2: Service engine soon.
3: Oil light is on and i get random ticking from the engine.

The shop got these codes from the check engine:

1: PL590- MFR ctrl veh spd. idle ctrl, aux input.
2: PO300- random /multiple misfire detected.
3: PO308- cyl #8 misfire detected.
4: PO307- cyl #7 misfire detected.
5: PL300- mfr ctrlled lgn sys or misfire.
6: POL54- O2 sensor B1 S1 circuit inactive.
7: PO305- cyl #5 misfire detected.

If it were me I would start with the basics and go from there... complete tune up and fluid changes including brake fluid.

Pull the oil pan and clean the pick up tube and the sludge out of the pan.

DO not drive this truck!!!
I hope they gave it to you for free cause it is safe to say you bought a non-maintained vehicle and with the oil light on, there could be a new engine in your future.
Fo now, all you want to worry about is the oil pressure. Do you know how to read it? Idle when cold, 2000 RPM's when cold, idle when at operating temp and at 2000 RPM's.
Once you get the pressure numbers, get back to us with them.
In the mean time, don't waste any time or money trying to correct the codes.

Thanks for the rapid reply Mike.

How do I get the numbers since there is no pressure gauge, only a light?

Don't take this wrong, but, by your question it is obvious you have little mechanical back ground. Get it to you shop and plan on leaving it so they can cold start it for the complete test.
