I'm in the market for an used LR3 and I've come across some that have the 'A Frame Protection Bar' installed.

My wife (it would be her vehicle) definitely doesn't like the look.
Are they easy to remove from the vehicle, and what, if any, front bumper modifications are done at install time ?

From what i have read about the install of the A Bar it does not seem to be to hard to remove as it only takes about an 1 hour to install and is just bolts and brakets that do not affect the front bumper at all...

I'm hope you're right and it's a quick and painless installation or removal.

I called a couple of dealerships (Charlotte, Greensboro);
both service guys I talked to said it involved some drilling and that it wasn't a 'simple' procedure.

When I pressed for details they had none, so my guess is they've never done it.

I'm hoping someone on this forum has done an install and can comment....

I have the A-frame brush bar, and while I can't agree with your wife's taste, I can say that it appears to be "integrated" into the bumper, i.e. the bumper looks to be cut so that the bar could fit in. However, I can't say for sure....I'll have to look closer when I get out to my vehicle.

It requires four permanent 33mm holes to be drilled into the exterior bumper cover, so the mounting screws can be attached to the brackets that are mounted underneath.

I guess the holes could be capped with color matching plugs if you removed the A Frame protector...
