ABS light anti lock light question

When I start my disco the Anti Lock light is on, but when I put it in drive and move about 10 ft. or less it goes off, it never stays on so I haven't worried about it but know am wondering why it might be doing this??? Please help shed some light

If all is well the ABS light should go out after you move off. Sometimes you may travel a few hundred metres before it goes out. If it doesn't go out, turn off your ignition; wait a moment, then switch your engine on and drive off. If it still does not go out then it could be a sensor problem or someting more serious.

the abs is doing a self test and kicks off at approx. 10 mph. if you drive under 10 mph it will stay on indefinitely, but I have never managed to do so very long In other words it is completely normal, as Disco1 said.
