Just bought a 2011 LR4 Lux. Dealer wanted a small fortune to install side molding and mud flaps, so was going to take the car down the street to a body shop that will do it for half the price (regularly work on land rover vehicles). This may be a stupid question, but does this have any impact on the warranty? It just seems silly to pay $100+/hour for service when don't have to.

It will not have any impact on your vehical’s warranty. Especially since they are OEM accessories. Your indy installer should back you up though if any of those accessories should fall off your vehical because of poor installation – make sure you ask and/or have them note this on the final receipt. And if any of the OEM “parts” are warrantied by Land Rover, meaning if your side mouldings should fade prematurely LR will replace the parts. I believe, but could be wrong, that the LR parts are warrantied for a year.

But bear in mind though, if you ever install any non-OEM parts, i.e., upgraded HIDs or anything like performance exhaust systems etc., suspension mods, or electrical system changes, Land Rover WILL NOT warranty them and could even void some of your warranty coverage for the remaining time left on your bumper to bumper warranty. For example, one upgrades to aftermarket HIDs and the headlight wireharness melts, then it’s the ownership’s problem, not Land Rovers. And it’s not uncommon for any car manufacturer to void parts of your warranty do to non-OEM mods.
