Just bought this truck so I am going to change the oil. MY stick shows overfill on one side, but it needs more on the other. How much oil does a discovery 2 require? 1999 Discovery 2. Fully synthetic Royal purple 10w-30 with wix fliter

Thanks Chris

My book shows a 99 Disco to hold 6.5 quarts, but I recommend using the dipstick as your guide. Also the dipstick tube may need to be cleaned out so the stick gets an accurate reading, I use a 20” long 1/4” or 3/8” diameter wire pipe cleaner for this task.

Hey thanks,

I went ahead and put six quarts in it. I think my tube is giving me a worng reading like you said. It shows to much on one side of the stick, but perhaps the accurate measurement on the other. Then when I put it in the opposite way it is the same.

I have also read some filters are larger and so you may have to put more oil in. So, I will see later today if i can clean it out.

Thanks
