Been wondering how our auto headlights work...

I notice my headlights turn on when I drive into my dark garage or into a tunnel throughout the day. This is probably due to a light sensor somewhere. But what puzzles me is my headlights don't turn on in the morning when it's not too daylight or too dark but they do in the evening around sunset. I mean to me the sun or lack of is the same during these 2 periods. Are our headlights also time sensored to turn on in the evening versus morning?

Any answers appreciated...Thanks!

i haven't found any diostinction between night and morning auto lights. i suspect it is just differnet levels of light.

try a light meter from an old camera if you want to experiment more formally?
