Bad Fuel Pump????

I was driving my 2001 Disco and it died suddenly. About a half a day later it started and I was on my way. I went about 3 miles got a surge then it died again. Went out the next day it did it again. Then the next day I couldn't get it to turn over. I changed the fuel pump and it still won't start. Any suggestions.

How many miles on the Disco? When was the last major tune up and what was done? Any modifications to the Disco including changing the radio or adding lights?

I presume it still turns over and you have tested that you are getting fuel to the fuel rail?
