Beach LR3 ?

Looking for a beach to take my family, near Los Angeles or San diego, a beach that allows our LR3 to park right on the sand ?

Any recommendations ?

No beaches in San Diego County that I know of anyway, will let you drive right up
on to the sand. If you have a military backgroung Camp Pendleton has some
beaches you can drive to park on, but I would check that as well.

The closest beach that I can think of is San Luis Obispo (about 4 hours from LA county). Other than that, Dockweilder State Beach (outside of Manhattan Beach, CA) has an RV area that is pavement...you can park on the pavement and be steps from the beach...Other than that, southern CA doesnt have much...

Oceano Dunes is a huge sandy area on the beach that allows vehicles. It's a bit of a drive north of LA (3 hours for me), but several people I know do regular trips up there with Land Rovers. Here's a link to it on google maps.

Oceano Dunes (PISMO as most know it) is the only one anywhere near the area if i'm not mistaken... It's an OHV area (+/- 1300 acres and shrinking) that is shared with quads, sandrails and other vehicles but you can pull right up to the water, camp there...my all-time favorite...

heard the SCLRO club was going out to there on Sept 19th, 20th...

Don't think so...and no camping down there (on the sand)...

There is "Day Parking" close to the water line at San Onofre. But all over night camping is
up on the bluffs.
