I put in bilstein shocks and OME HD springs and have one question that I can't find a straight answer to. When removing the original rear shocks, a metal sleeve is in the top mount. Must it be removed and placed in the rubber inserts of the replacement bilsteins? If it must be used on the new shocks, any recommendations on how to get them out or where to replace them?

I did not need to do this when I install Bilsteins on my Rover... Just installed them the way the came out of the box.
