Fair point, i will actually take this into consideration. Appreciate the input honestly…and yes lol i agree with you on the bass….i did a line out converter from the factory amp. I’ve done music in plenty other vehicles, but the LR4’s cabin is naturally acoustically proper for a subwoofer. It sounds great no matter where you place the sub. Firing up ,down, from the sides all sound great.

agreed, I think we talked about this a couple of years ago in a different thread but I've got a 400 watt JL ACP110LG-TW1 paired with the old factory 480w Logic7 system and i have the input level on the sub cranked to the minimum and even the factory amp sub level turned down to 3 from minimum and i can still feel it in the seats. this car reflects bass so well, makes it sound great.

Sorry to hear that as I also have a 5.0n thats quiet. Id love to know whether the tensioner mounting bolts just broke (one of them) and threw the chain; do you have a boroscope by any chance OR can you look through the oil filler cap and see if at least the drivers side chain is intact? Really interested whether this was chains tensioner or somethinbg else; what oil were you running?
thanks,

Dave

For what it's worth...Have a 2013 LR4 I bought at auction that was perfect except for a blown engine at 100k. We opted to purchase a used engine with same miles (we were able to watch a video of it running with compression and leak down numbers). We did a full upgrade on the timing chains before installing it. Truck runs great and very glad we did it. I have a 2010 RRS with 295k miles and original engine with no timing chain replacement that usually sits on the back driveway. Thought about selling it until last week in high country of southern Colorado on trails. The truck's a beast. I've decided to keep it. Hard to let these go. If you can do the work yourself, seriously consider it. The used engine market has come down to reasonable prices for the 5.0V8s.

For the speakers in your door, I can see the cup holder area was used for the box, crafty and looks tight. Did you need to route additional channels or was there already 4 in the door? Are you using the factory amp with the door speakers?

As an aside, I bought a JBL Partybox 1000 and put it in the cargo area connected with Bluetooth and a 304 AH 12V Lifepo4 with 120V AC inverter to drive around and experiment with sound. The JBL Partybox has a 1100W amp driving a 12" subwoofer, 2 7" drivers, tweeters with a claimed 30Hz-20kHz range.

When Mother by Pink Floyd played back, the bass was bliss. Super intense hitting really hard and vibrated my chest, head, legs, clothes and everything was rocking. But I could only find one song that hit hard and sounded good with it. Compared to the Harmon Kardon the sound was muddy and it gave me a new appreciation for the Harmon Kardon system lol.
