Brake Pad Rattle Advice

So that’s called pad knock back. It happens with OEM calipers with the combination of aftermarket pads. I have no idea why it occurs with different brands. I’m sure people use ferrodo pads with no issues and some have knock back like yourself. I had the same issue with yellowstuff EBC pads. I honestly drove it like that until they wore down. Then i slapped in orange stuff ebc pads and ebc rotors and that symptom is completely gone. No explanation honestly. As the article states, it has nothing to do with your pads/calipers. Its the combination of the pads, and rotors i guess thats currently on your truck.

Did you ever get anywhere with is? In 130k miles I’ve yet to find a solution that works well. Pads rattle on abrupt bumps and I think that they tend to stick and cause uneven breaking. No matter what I do my breaks start pulsing before pads are due.

What I did for years was use crc brake quiet to essentially glue the pads to the pistons, that stops the rattle. But it does not last the lifetime of the pads. Last time I tried Bosch rotors and pads and no brake quiet, but pulsing and rattling has started again. No lubrication process has helped. The pad channels gum up so bad. It’s actually nuts how much money I’ve spent on rotors, rotor turning, and pads.

Pulsing can be from warped rotors and they can warp from being cheap as well as getting them super hot and parking, but not limited to that.
