I have a 2005 LR3 HSE. Recently, after some service my CD player is now ALWAYS ON! I can turn off the unit, and the CD player plays. I can turn on the radio, and the CD player plays... same with Aux input...

It did not used to do this, but LR tells me "this is how it works... but if we were to change it, it would be a software change." Which tells me they probably did a patch to one of the computers and it started behaving this way.

Anyone else notice this aggravation? You can no longer listen to any type of CD that you want to "stop" and return to. And the flipping through CD's when the car is quiet is annoying.

Thanks,

One of your rear passenger headphone jacks probably has CD selected. If they have CD selected, they can listen to the CD... even if your head unit is off. So, it's "by design." Fix? Find the jack, and flip it to radio or AUX.

FYI:

There is a software change that can be installed on your '05.. which forces all the rear headphone selectors to "AUX" when starting your ignition. (This is the behavior for new 06+ LR3/RRS builds.) Might be annoying for rear passengers, but since most don't use it often... it's a good fix to prevent confusion.

you were right... thanks... I had thought about it being a short circuit somewhere in the back jacks.. it never occurred to me that they would operate without being used (they've not been used)... in any event, they DO operate, and one had been tuned to the CD.

by the way, how does one go about getting the software change you mentioned (that turns them all to AUX at ignition)?

There should be a more recent revision of the "infotainment" system software... ask them to install it. The AUX logic change should be there. I don't think it's mandatory, so you probably need to nudge them. If they don't believe you, go find a 2006 or 2007 HSE and show them the behavior change yourself.
