Check engine light?

Their once was a time where I used to read the good folks on this forum write about there misfortune of having a check engine light on, and now I have one of my own.
I dont know what I did to have this light, but now I have one.
So I took the LR to Auto zone and had it read, and it read "MISFIRE".
Im really not sure of exactly what a misfire is, but I got one.
I took the LR home grabed a tool and disconnected the battery, and now I sit in front of the P.C and I logged into land rover world to find out what to do next?
Any ideas?

What was the code? ie...P0306

I gota run back to auto zone and get the numbers, Im going first thing in the morning to get them read and i'll post it up!
