Hey I need a little advise
Just took my 98 4.6 to the dealership to have the door thingys replaced. The handle broke on the driver side door so they had to switch a whole bunch of stuff to the tune of $1007.

While it was there the lady told me all of my suspension lines were leaking and that they needed to be replaced.......to the tune of $2400 total, she said if I did not get them replaced soon the compressor would go out and that increased the repair to about $3500.

My question is, should I just invest this money in converting the Air Suspension system to this thing called Coils I keep hearing about or should I pay to have the Air suspension fixed.

I don't know anything about cars, and information (surprisingly) is very slim on the internet about Rovers and repairs. This is the first forum I have found where people are actually replying. Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks
Miekov

Personally I'd change over to coils. You might go to the expense now of fixing your existing air suspension problem, but nothing lasts for ever, and at some stage down the track you will be facing the same repair.

With the coils you will never have to worry about this problem returning, its a good investment. Its very costly to keep the air suspension maintained and it only gets worse as time goes on. If your only replacing one or two air springs you may be buying
the other two later or even if you do replace all of them there is always the chance that the compressor goes out or even the valve block starts leaking.

Does anyone know where you would go to get the conversion on the suspension system? Is this something the dealer would have to do? Has anyone had this done? Do you know the range of the cost?

There's a place called strutmasters that has a good price on their kit:
http://www.strutmasters.com/land-rover/index.htm

These guys on ebay have a good price on their kit also:
http://stores.ebay.com/ROVERSLAND-INC_W0QQssPageNameZviQ3asibQ3astoreviewQQtZkm

The highest price i've seen was on roversnorth.com:

http://www.roversnorth.com/RRD04/RRD04_81_84/RRD04_page82.htm

it may be b/c the only show the kits for the Range Rover but the price I saw was approaching $900!

i hope that helps...i'm dealing with the same thing.
