Anybody currently running or had any experience with Cooper tires? Specficially looking for information on how they wear, how they handle and if they are quiet, compared to the Michelin 4x4 XPC's. After 4 months of quiet driving with my Bridgestone Blizzaks, it's time to take them off before they start melting. I'm dreading the noise of those XPC's, but you can't beat them for wear.

This may seem a little unbeleivable but it is all true after the original michelins wore out at 77283 km i went out and bout a set of "Cooper ST" the first thing i noticed was less road noise but you could put that down to the michelins beeing worn out. On road grip was as good as i could remember the michelins being however due to the progresivly harder compound of the rubber in the coopers the more they wore down the more likley you were to get wheel spin when driven hard in the wet. But this slippage was an acceptable amount considering it was generally when slow cornering with the foot flat to the floor. I could only remeber maybe once or twice that they aqua-planed and even then you would have to have been using Tractor tyres to have avoided it. Dry weather performance both on and off road was excelent except in fine sand where the tread pattern was to aggessive and tended to dig itself in unless you lowered the pressures. Ok here is the perhaps unbeleivable part but entirely true i replaced them at 224693 km so thats 147410 trouble free kilometers. I replaced them with the new "Cooper STT" and so far so good. I f you remember that these vehicles are not sports cars they are four wheel drives and should be driven as such.
Hope this helps

I have been running Cooper Discoverer S/T on my other landy- A series 3 for ages now. Absolutely no complaints, and also from a price point of view here in South Africa, I am going to be putting them on the Disco very soon.......
