Campbell has it right, after checking the lines for leaks, pull the lower kick panel and check the switch. The switch works by a plunger contacting the brake pedal arm, when the brakes are applied the plunger opens and releases the vacumn. For my Disco the switch would not seat properly thus allowing the plunger to open even with the brakes off. The fix was to tape a 7/16ths nut to the brake pedal arm at the point the switch plunger contacted it. This took up the gap and kept the plunger closed.

Take a look in the technical section. There is a pretty good write-up on troubleshooting the cruise. Charles

Hi Rierner, while trying to sort out my son's "ultimate off roader" I found the vacuum pipes connecting the "snooze" control actuator to the controls meet at a T piece behind the screenwash bottle. His were rotten and had fallen off - hence no cruise control. It may be worth looking for something simple first?
Cheers

I had a similar problem

In my case it was the vacuum hose to the actuator. I have a pdf of the cruise control system if it will help [too large to attach so I would have to email it]. New hose and presto! - cruise control.
