i also test drove mine out side my workshop, you can feel the change. it is sealed road with some gravel on top, i drove around in a circle and you can feel the wheels slip when the diff is locked. i spent a good 1/2 hour trying all the gears and stuff you soon to get to know when it is looked or not

OK, just to update my situation....I have these INSANE hard speed bumps in my apartment complex, so I just moved the t-case shifter left and right while 'shocking' the rover with the force of the bumps, got my lil light to come back on and off consistently, high or low range, and was doin circles on the asphalt (yes i know, bad bad bad, but still) and could tell it was locking from the way the tires sounded locked vs. unlocked....so ya, just some force and movement is all I needed

have to do it every week, again, cause i forgot for 3 months and thats when it did its mini-seize...have fun!

If you take things apart, and clean and grease them it will last years, not months... I tore mine down about 3 years ago, and have only locked 5 or 6 times since and it still works with out issue.

I tend to scare easily with dismantling my girl, lol, I only access to a garage at my parents house--90 miles away, and the disco is my daily driver, so I cant afford to have it laying in pieces for days on end, it was hell trying to replace my rear rotoflex, cause I decided, hey im here anyway, I will replace the pilot bushing--well 3 days later I finally got it destroyed enough to get it out, lol....and I dont even want to see how long it takes me to unhook the linkages, Ill just run her on some gravel while locked lol....thanks for the tip tho, if I get more time ill do an overhaul like that--got the tranny fluid and manifold gaskets on the list right now...errrr, and my purge valve/charcoal canister is goin haywire!
