In the 30 pounds per / hp range or one step up from a 40 hp VW.
Now what's left at the wheels after deducting power losses from motor accessories, transmission, transfer, two driveshafts and two diff gear sets besides the aero of a brick at speed. I find my 95 5 speed with 4.6, chip, Borla, cold ram air, cam and ported heads a under powered vehicle.

Disco Model 98 > Horsepower?

Yes, the disco's compared to other brand engines are under-powered. It all depend on the purpose of your vehicle. I'm using my truck for work and that is 6 days a week off-road driving in sandy conditions (UAE Desert) well most of V8 engines are far over the 250Hp, me with my 170hp which reduces dramaticly if the AC is on (which is a must by 45C+) I'm strugling many times to get through.

But if you are on the asphalt road or off-road (except desert driving) I am wondering why you need all this extra Horsepower.

To prevent being a road hazard here in the US with vehicles that cost 1/4 the price and have twice the horsepower. Yup 130 HP divided by 4 wheels in soft sand that sucks up horsepower in a 5,000 pound (US measurement) vehicle just doesn't make sense. My stock 43 Jeep spins circles around Discoveries on the ranch, it has a Chevy 256" 4 cylinder motor, narrower with less weight.
One draw back, its not loaded with cup holders.
