So what caused the engine to rev so hard after it started?

Ice causing the intake manifold butterfly valves to stick?

The truth is I don't know. I drove it for around 15 miles and the throttle was open than I let it sit for a while and when I restarted the baby and it was back to loveing. I also think it could have something to do with the sending unit in the gas tank, but just speculating.
