I am a new owner of a 2000 Land Rover Discovery II with 100,000 miles on it. So far, I've been fixing mostly costmetic issues and it runs great. The main issue I have is the drivers door will not unlock. Neither with the FOB nor the key itself. The only way to open the door is to climb over from the passenger side and using the door handle to open it. Oddly enough, when I go to lock the driver door, the latch will not manually push down until I close the door once, re-open it, and then manually push the latch down. When I try to use the key, it seems like it is not going all the way in.

Also, I cannot use the FOB to lock the drivers door and cannot use the key to do so either. All the other door locks work great!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like the lock is out of adjustment. A pain in the next to adjust, but not hard. You have to remove the inner door panel and readjust the door lock. I just posted this week the pictures on how to remove the door lock, these pics also show you where the adjustments are.

Thanks Joey. You think that will address the key not inserting all the way in as well?

Hmmm didn't notice that in the first post... been a long day already... This sounds like you may have a bad lock or someone put something in the lock. But you should be able to disassemble and clean it out.
