Dumbells under the rear of the '11 LR4

I was under the rear of the truck yesterday installing a hitch and noticed what looked like two 25 lb dumbells located above the frame of the bumper on both sides. Does anyone know what purpose these serve? Seems like a lot of extra weight and not sure what they are there for.

Harmonic dampening. They are supposed to help out with offending resonations that may occur in the cabin from droning road noise.

Yeah don't mess with them... As noted by blackforrest they're for harmonic dampening.
