Limited experience with the LR4 yet, but in the past I have traced similar issues to this down to something as simple as bad grounds or bad positive connections. Maybe check for corrosion on some of the key grounds, main fuses and other connection points? If there is too much resistance in the circuit, it would look to the computers like the battery is no good.

Also, are you sure the alternator is working as it should? Have you double-checked the voltage across the battery terminals when the engine is running...or can you?

Best of luck, and I hope it’s something as simple as this!

Thanks. Voltage when the engine is running is good (13.7 - 14V), so i'm pretty confident the alternator is ok. Had another look around the battery last night and the was a red positive lea that ran close to the neg terminal - which i've moved away. Lead looked well insulated though. There are so many different red wires on this car its hard to know what's going on. I'll see what happens today.

G'day again Andrew H,

A good mate ; Kerry Richardson runs a business in Devonport and is a D4 (and D3) owner & has suggested two Tassie LR specialists.
He suggests firstly you call Bauke Meijer - Sheffield Mechanical and Tyre. 6491 1107 or 0408781254 & have a chat. Tell Bauke Kerry said to call. He is at 1/36 Claude Rd. Sheffield.
Secondly & closer to home for you is Justin Cooper - Justin Cooper Independent Land Rover Specialist.
0408995635. Unit 2/36 Browns Rd. Kingston. Website is: justin-cooper.edan.io

Kerry's not had direct dealings with Justin, but it seems he's highly recommended by local LR owners.
Kerry's known Bauke for 20+ years & he services the D4 & just put tyres on it. He said Bauke'd be
happy to talk with you re your electrical gremlins. Kerry reckons it's almost certainly a bad earth somewhere. Kerry has no faith in the Hobart or Launceston dealers. Both useless at diagnostics & very
expensive. He reckons the dealer would simply replace bits (@ your cost!) & probably still not rectify the problem.
Best of luck. Let's know how you get on. 0466456816

Maybe try measuring some other voltages that should be zero. E.g. between the alternator case and the battery negative, between battery negative and the chassis and engine, between alternator out and battery positive, etc. It might help you spot where something that should have no resistance has some corrosion.
