Since the warranty ran out on my V6 petrol Freelander in October 2004 I have spent fortunes on an endless list of problems including thermostat; head gasket, sensor on the cam shaft, loosing coolant at around half a pint every 100 or so miles. Having just been back in to my local garage yet again (not a Land Rover dealer), water is coming out of the exhaust and I am being told that it is either the head gasket again or the liner (what ever that is).

Is there someone who is completely independent who specialises in Land Rovers who lives in the South East of te UK because I really need help!!!!

Know exactly where you are coming from. You may have got rid of the car by now. I have been having the same problems and sod's law like you I didn't take extended warranty this last year. My brother in law who is a mechanic knows a chap at Land Rover who says it's a known problem with the V6's. Head gaskets go a lot which can mean a new engine. Apparently dealers won't touch them at auctions because of this. My coolant's going down a lot so I suspect a similar thing, but I'm giving it back to the finance company before it becomes undrivable. I shan't get another. I'd get shot of yours before it becomes a money pit.

Best of luck
