Something else you can check is to pull a spark plug and see if the engine is actually running lean. If the engine is running lean, then there is a problem somewhere in the air/fuel system, but if the plugs show the engine to be running rich, then the most likely problem is with either the air/fuel sensor or the O2 sensor. This can be checked by viewing the data stream with the engine running with a scan tool.
